LPGA Leadership Academy coming up next week at Bucks Run

The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational at the Midland Country Club may still be almost four weeks away, but an event being held in conjunction with it, the LPGA Leadership Academy, is coming up Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22, at Bucks Run in Mount Pleasant.

Forty girls between the ages of 15-18, including nine from Midland, Bay, Saginaw and Isabella counties, have been chosen to attend the two-day event, where they will interact with LPGA professional players and with Dow female executives as well as learn more about the game of golf.

The LPGA holds only three such academies each year, the other two of which are in California and New Jersey this year. An LPGA Leadership Academy also took place in 2019, the inaugural year of the Dow GLBI, right at the Midland Country Club.

“This is a great opportunity to bring LPGA professionals and Dow leadership (together) for the girls to interact with,” said Dow GLBI Tournament Director Wendy Traschen.
